About the program in India

In India we have 15 Gap Year & Volunteering Programs available in Goa, Rajasthan or Sikkim near the Himalayas including teaching English, construction, kindergarten, sports coach and gap year programs such as an adventure week and a yoga week. You can combine different projects easily with us without any extra costs. You can join from a short term 2 weeks program up to 4 weeks. Join this program from only £535, US$685 or €545 with discounts available of £30/US$45/€40 per person for when you book with someone else or you are one of our many returning customers!

Program Info & Location

Doing a volunteer program in India provides a unique and worthwhile experience. Help children & communities in India while experiencing the culture and beauty of this wonderful country. You can join the program from 2 to 4 weeks. You can start every Monday, except for the Road Trip which starts the first Monday of every month.

You can combine these projects at no extra costs per location!

Transportation between different locations is not included. This is included in the India Road Trip.

For most projects you can start every Monday, except for the India Road Trip which have fixed start dates (see details in the brochures below).

Except for the India Road Trip you will start your program with the introduction Week in Goa, Udaipur or Sikkim, this will ensure that you get the most out of your stay by learning about the local culture and customs.

Accommodation & Meals

There are three meals included from Monday to Friday and two meals during the weekend. The volunteer accommodation in Samraong is based on single gender rooms.

Projects

There are several projects available and you can build your own schedule and choose which project(s) you want to join from a short term 2 weeks program up to 4 weeks and you can also combine different projects!

Arrival Details

You need to arrive on the Sunday before the start date of the program. You will be picked up from the airport and taken to your accommodation.

You need to arrive at these airports according to the project you will start with :

All Goa projects : GOI (Dabolim International Airport)
All Udaipur (Rajasthan) projects : Udaipur (Rajasthan) UDR (Maharana Pratap Airport)
All Sikkim projects : Siliguri Bagdogra Airport, Bagdogra (IXB) (8:00 to 17:00)
India Road Trip : DEL (Indira Gandhi International Airport)

Departure day is on Saturday of your last week.

Accommodation and Meals

There are three meals included from Monday to Friday and two meals during the weekend. 

Participants share a room together with other participants in single-gender rooms in volunteer accommodation.

Projects in India

There are different volunteering projects available which can be combined. You can build your own program on the application form where you can choose which project(s) you want to join and build your own program in India!

For most projects you can start every Monday, except for the India Road Trip which have fixed start dates (see details in the brochures below). Except for the India Road Trip you will start your program with the introduction Week in Goa, Udaipur or Sikkim, this will ensure that you get the most out of your stay by learning about the local culture and customs.

Kindergarten Education and Outreach School in Goa

Embark on a journey into Goa to teach English, impart workshops and more to the migratory students who attend our school in the remote villages of Goa. The school teaches various educative subjects to migratory children from underprivileged backgrounds. Here, you will have the opportunity to teach English, pass on hygiene and sanitation knowledge and also help at organized workshops on various need based aspects such as (sports, arts, awareness, environment etc.)

Goa Construction and Renovation

Get your hands dirty and help the underprivileged communities and their schools in India with construction projects. The main construction site of this project is located at the migratory children kindergarten and at the local slum school, but the work can also take place elsewhere in the area where development construction assistance is needed. While assisting the local community with their developments, you will gain valuable experiences as well as cultural exchanges with Indian people.

Goa Community Project

Take part to work with us to improve the quality of the local communities of Goa. Participate in our slum outreach program and at the women’s shelter. This project is designed to provide basic informal education, life skills, art and crafts, teach subjects such as math, science, geography, and also English. In this project, you will teach children about environmental awareness, basic hygienic methods, behaviour skills etc.

Goa Adventure Week

Tread along the rugged, challenging and fascinating trails of the Western Ghats and let yourself loose in the arms of nature. This trek is an amazing experience, as the landscape offers a gentle gradient in different phases with fishing, visiting waterfalls, caves, plantations, scenic views, campfires and much more. You will pass through several stunning places during your journey through the mystical Indian jungles.

Goa Body and Mind

Spend the week practicing yoga and meditating in a week designed to relax your body and soothe your mind after your projects. Our program combines yoga and meditation with Ayurvedic treatments for your body. Rajasthan Special School Education & Community Teaching

Education and Community teaching takes place in the city of Udaipur, this program adds an unique educational component to the existing teaching program. You will work with hearing impaired children belonging to underprivileged families and also have the opportunity to work with local community children of Udaipur. You have to fulfill a small academical curriculum the school follows that comprises contemporary theories.

Rajasthan Sports Coach

Help out with fun sport sessions at local schools and introduce new activities to children from rural areas. During this program, sport is utilized to create opportunities for children to develop socially, physically, mentally and academically. Rajasthan Construction and Renovation

Rajasthan Body and Mind

This week is specially designed to soothe both your body and your mind. This week long therapy will make you feel relaxed. After your long stay and work at the projects sites, on your last week, you can choose to take up his week of rejuvenation which is specially made to relax. We will teach you the basics of yoga and meditation and take you for Ayurvedic treatments for your head, hands, feet and a full body massage that will help soothe your body.

Sikkim Introduction Week

Sikkim Kindergarten Teaching

Sikkim Teaching Project

Are the program fees subject to change?

When you apply, we will email you your acceptance to the program together with a price quotation. When you confirm your booking paying your deposit within one month from the date you applied then your program fee will remain unchanged, even if the fees might change on the website during this time.

What is the average age of participants?

We have participants of different ages. Most are between 18 and 35 years. But we also have participants who are older (up to 55 years). The programs are suitable for both younger volunteers and older volunteers.

What is the support like overseas?

We believe our support at our destinations is excellent, just check our testimonials and reviews to see what our customers said. We have full-time staff in each destination. It is their job to set up and coordinate your placement, check out your accommodation, meet you at the airport and provide you with any support you need.

Can I also join my friend or family member?

Yes, you can book any of our programs together with one or more people. We will then organize your program together. Just let us know when you sign up and you will each receive a discount of £35/US$45/AU$60/€40.

Can I participate for a short period?

Yes you can participate from one week (from 2 weeks for some programs). You have a choice of different projects where you can gain a fantastic experience.

How well should my English be?

Anyone who can understand and speak reasonable English and express themselves in English can participate in the program. The level of English of the children you will teach is usually low.

Is travel insurance mandatory?

Yes this is mandatory. You are responsible for yourself if something happens to you abroad. That is why you have to take out travel insurance yourself before you leave.

Will I be picked up from the airport?

Yes, you will be picked up from the airport by the local coordinator. Let us know your flight details and we will arrange this for you.

Can I choose what type of project I want to work at?

Yes you can certainly do that. During your registration you can let us know which project (s) you want to join. You work about 4-5 hours a day, from Monday to Friday. At the weekend you are free to travel or to discover the surroundings.

Are your programs suitable for an internship?

yes that is possible for some projects. In the past we have had several participants who have done our program as an internship. Contact us if you have specific requirements for your internship.

Can I combine different countries?

Yes you can combine different countries. That is a great way for a unique experience of different cultures in one journey.

Can I still travel around after the program?

Yes, you can do this, we have several volunteers who travel around after their program has been done or before their program starts.

Will other volunteers be present on the project?

The number of volunteers can vary depending on the period, the country and the project. We can not guarantee the presence of other volunteers on the project.

Do I have to reserve my flight myself?

Yes you book yourself for your flight. Once you book we will let you know the details of your arrival and then you can book your flight. Let us know your flight details and we will arrange your pickup on arrival.

What to do in case of difficulties on the spot?

In the event of difficulties on the spot, you should first contact the person in charge of the project on site to inform that person about your situation. If the problems persist, contact us so that we can help if needed.

When can I register?

The earlier, the better it is to be certain of your place on a project on the dates of your choice. You can still register up to 4 weeks before departure, we will let you know within 24 hours if the program is still available.

Deposit
Pay your deposit to reserve you place in the program. You can pay the deposit in these currencies: £145, US$175 or €150.

Remaining Fees
Pay the remaining fees, minus the deposit which you already paid, six weeks before your start date of your program.
